History fo Halloween

Halloween can be dated back thousands of years to the Celts. The calander of the Celts begins on November 1 to celebrate the end of the summer and having the crops harvested. Therefore they celebrated the day before, because they thought the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred.
They called this celebration Samhain. The Celts felt that on this day before the mew year that the ghosts of the dead came back to earth. Durring this time the Druids, or celtic priests, made predictions about the future. The Celts took these predictions very seriosly and were dependent on them for the winter months.
While the festival was going of they would built a huge bonfire and sacrafice to Celtic Deities. They would where costumes of animal hide and heads.http://www.history.com/minisites/halloween
